Violin Position Videos in 1st through 7th Positions
My hope is that these videos will serve as supplemental guides for students who learning the various violin positions in lessons.
There are a few similarities between the various positions on the violin: First position and fifth position fingerings are the same except fifth position is higher up on the fingerboard and a string lower. Second and sixth positions have the same fingering as well (sixth position is higher up on the fingerboard and a string lower than second position). The same is true for third and seventh positions.
Knowledge of the different positions can help players avoid string crossings and can create a warmer sound.
